I've asked about the Helpers in previous posts. I left when the position was first created in the 90's, or at least I never heard of them until recently. I think they are the ones in line for future GB positions.

One month researching my doubts: my crucial issues with WTBTS - what are yours?
by Tornintwo inso after 20 years a convert, about a month ago i decided to start listening to my doubts and to do independent research about the wtbts teachings (naughty me).
as a result i have consolidated my position on various points and these are my major issues with the wtbts teachings, i am posting these to help myself figure things out (with your assistance) and hopefully to hear from others at their stage of drawing away from the gb - newbies' especially.
in the form of notes so hope you dont mind...child abuse.

Nice summation.
If you make a decision to leave or DA, then you must face the reality to restart your entire life.

How many years will pass before the world recognizes we were right?
by John Aquila inits inevitable that at some point in time, people will look back and see that the exjw community was right about the watchtower organization and the bible..
i have some friends who are catholic, protestant, and some who dont associate with any religion but believe jesus will come in their lifetime.
we are such a small minority compared to christians that we are viewed as ignorant when it comes to religious matters.

Until people stop fearing death, there will always be those who refuse to admit anything in regards to religious beliefs. -

40 years on - and still in Damage Control mode!
by Bungi Bill inearlier this morning, i posted off to the the institute of engineers an application for membership as an "engineering associate":.
- today being just over 40 years since the congregation's retards elders made me abandon my apprenticeship.. (in this part of the world, the pre-1975 hype was taken to that level.
not being content to prevent young persons attending university, they went one step further and treated with hostility any youngster who would "tie up five years of their lives" by entering into an apprenticeship.

A big hello and thank you
by iwasblind ini just wanted to introduce myself and say a big hello to all of my mentally diseased friends.. i say friends because i have been lurking for some time so it feels like home (us lurkers are a bit scared and cautious so it takes a while).
i won't bore you with too many details, but i am a born in, currently serving as the cobe of a congregation.
my wife and i have pioneered for the last 10 years and were shaken awake by that ridiculous 15th july 2013 wt about the generation and 1914.. my wife who is much smarter than me has questioned for years.

Welcome, being a lurker you know most will welcome you, but a few will condemn you being an active witness/elder/pioneer. I wish you the best, and have empathy for your situation. -

Stupid post. Burning books? Yeah, sure. The only book burning that took place, was the Nazis burning JW books back in the 30's. Burning books? Man, what topic!
Can always tell who was a condescending elder at one point in their life. Bitter Bitter

As a very young child I have memories of several book burnings done by JW families. It wasn't something arranged by the congregation, but Elders did participate in it. It was actually scary for me as a child of only about 8 years old. The books being burned were from a study of one the Elders. She was a single mother and she was quite messed up in the head. She claim her doll attacked her. So guess what? That doll got the heave ho into the fire pit also. There were several JW surrounding the pit of fire, claiming to hear demons wale.
Are witnesses still this bat shit crazy when it comes to demons?
The other book burning took place at about age of 16. My JW friend and I began playing AD&D (Dungeons & Dragons). Even though my father wasn't a witness and he was educated, he wouldn't allow me to play or posses the material, because of the news stories about D&D. I wasn't too obedient with that rule. My JW friend was a slob and his mother would constantly clean his room. He would hide his books in that trash pit. Well one day when I went to his house there was a pile of ash on the porch. He was at the kitchen table surrounded by bibles and Insight book. I was told to go home. My JW friend ratted me out to my dad. I asked my father if he burned my books. He told me that he isn't wasting money, and had me turn them back in for store credit. I used that store credit a few months later to buy the books again. lol

JW 'urban legends'
by Steve Lowry ini was thinking about some of the old jw urban legends that we grew up with and believed in as jws.
most of the ones i remember revolved around stories about demons, and jws being "attacked" when they would do something wrong.
some of these legends scared the crap outta me when i was little.

The smurf story and the two angles standing behind the witness had to be the most popular. I remember those two stories in the 80s and 90s.
Are there any new ones that have come about in the last 10 years? Are the witnesses still crazed about demons? I can recall several book burnings as a child.

If the Watchtower truly collapsed, how would you deal with your JW relatives?
by nicolaou inimagine the best case scenario.
the watchtower society implodes from within even making final printed admissions that it is voluntarily dismantling it's mission and legally dissolving the corporations.
oh happy day!

Only my mom and sister are JW now. Neither of the two are active. My mom holds on to the belief because it gives her hope. She loss her father last year and my grandmother is 85. If the religion was to collapse I think she would be depressed, but then maybe we can have a Christmas again. The last Christmas we did as a family was 1982. -

I'm ignorant to the social welfare programs outside the US, but listening to others I have to assume in Europe it is more generous. I've not had deep personal conversation with active witnesses for nearly 20 years. Last year I made contact with a family and some Elders came to my house. But I avoided personal conversation and stuck to explanations on all the changes in WT doctrine.
As a child I can recall only one family that had money, but they moved to my congregation towards the end of my childhood. A lot of families were on welfare, especially those that consisted of pioneers. My mother worked full-time, and my father was a high school teacher and held jobs on weeknights teaching at the prison, and weekends doing financial auditing. He was very grumpy and a mean SOB at times (nothing physical just so tired and wanted to sleep).
One day this Elder came to our house and started to condemn my father for buying a "new" car. It was actually a used car, my family never had a "new" car. He told my father he was pursuing material things and should come back to the kingdom hall. My father was never baptized and study with the witnesses for about five years. He stopped when I was about 12 because of the hypocrisy he saw within the congregation and the favoritism that was given to JW elder's children.
This same Elder that criticized my father, never worked a single day throughout my time in the organization. He was the anointed I mentioned in another thread. His wife worked full-time, and he "pioneered". His extended family were on food stamps, medicaid, ect.. This allowed his daughter to be a pioneer. These pioneers and elders will condemn others for pursuing material things over spiritual matters, but they don't know what its like to support a family just on your income alone.
The WT has one of the best business plans I've seen. Free labor, tax free income, and its workers are subsidized by tax payers.
oh and their charity work "we teach literacy" what a scam
